New England Tractor Trailer Training School
Reviews and Complaints
Pawtucket is in total chaos
Went to the Pawtucket campus. Read some of the previous reviews and had many concerns.
I had called a few years ago. I called the guy who came to may house but he told me he didn't work there anymore. They had fired all the senior employees to hire new ones. I called the school and just like he said they put huge pressure on me to have a sales guy come over the house.
Financial aid is a joke. This school costs almost $11,000. You have to go to school for almost 6 months. I ended up with around $7,000 in student loans and have to pay the rest incash.
Not worth it at the end. I should have gone to a school with no financial aid and paid the same to be done in a month or two. Classes are dragged out. Mostly a waste of time.
When I got to the yard I learned a lot about how this school operates. The place is in total chaos with the people who work here fighting. Everybody hates the owner because he ripps them off. They were trying to get a union in there because the work conditions were so bad.
All the people who work here don't have a CDL license. None of the managers or sales guys have a CDL only the instructors. So the guy who came to my house was a total Bull Sh...er. Another thing that got me really pissed was that I found out in the yard some guys had negotiated the rate.
One guy had his permit so he was told if he paid $2,000 in cash they would train him in the yard. I wasn't told I could do that, so I got ripped off. The thing about not getting road tests is true. It takes months to get a road test with this place.
And when you fail it takes months again to get another road test. I was there when one guy came back mad because he took a year to get his CDL and when he went for a job interview he couldn't pass the road test with the company and wanted his money back. Don't be *** like me, find another school and pay cash.
This place is not worth it. All they want is your money.

New England Tractor Trailer Training School Driving Instructor Review from Cheshire, Connecticut
Im currently attending n.e.t.t.t.s. in somers and cant say how disappointed I am with this "school" as they try and pass it off as.
They say its a school to get federal grants and student financial aid and strech it out to 21 weeks 500 hrs so they can pull the wool over the governments eyes. Most of all of the instructors are washed out burnt out drivers or guys who just couldn't cut it driving trucks. There are less then a handfull of instructors who care. Yes the trucks are *** witch is fine for beating the bag out of.
The place is gross every trash bin is usually overflowing the bathrooms are gross *** on the floor no way to dry your hands celing tiles falling down toilets leaking. Etc the class room had ac but was broken wich is funny considering they have a hvacr "school" also. The books tell you one thing the old videos tell you another. The ppl in the office act like its a country club for them and take every parking spot out frunt making it hard for even ppl thinking of attending this "school" to find a spot.
DO NOT even think of asking anyone upstairs a question about anything. They cant be bothered they are only there to file paper work to make sure they get there money and trust me thats all they care about. I will say one guy at this place really stands out to me as a total *** whos full of himself and thats Keven. You will wait for hrs to get your turn to hop in a truck in the field.
And get on the road maybe 2 times a week if your lucky. The library is nothing more then 2 *** computers. Placement hands you a list of places to apply to and thats about it. Being trained on a forktruck is a joke and you still have to attend a class out of your pocket if you want that lic.
They make you park in basically a rubble parking lot in the way back of the property on the way to your class you can take views of the truck junk yard past the spent tire casings and the gross dumpsters lol. Even after all this yes if you suck it up and can deal with the fact that this "school" is sucking off the government to pay there bills and make huge money off and the fact that a third world country is more hygienic than this place you will get your cdl save the cash and go to united for 6 weeks for 5g insted of this headache.
Netts schooling
this is going on with my boyfriend! the director jim keeps pushing his test off it went to 8 weeks to we don't have a test date he paid the money and now they are saying he does not have a date and that he is leing about what has been told now the director said he scheduled to test the test on Wednesday in 2 weeks when my boyfriend went in the day before to verify they director then told him again that hes not taking the test!

I don't understand why every other restudied is taking there test on time with no problem! I went out of my way to call the owner of nets schooling to figure out whats happening!
THIS SCHOOL IS A SCAM - INCOMPETENT DIRECTOR AND TEACHERS
- Incompetent
- Bullying
- Unethical instructor
The Truth about NETTTS
I have read a lot of things about NETTTS. A lot negative, some positive.
I can tell you as a graduate of NETTTS the truth is some where in between. It has been over a year or so that I graduated and got my CDL but my guess is that things haven't changed. The course is 6 months long (give or take) and costs over 9,000 dollars for the full course. This seems totally unreasonable to me now. At the time though I was so hyped up on the line of *** the recruiter sold me I couldn't sign those papers fast enough.
Being broke and recently laid off my choice of schools was limited. NETTTS is the only school for a CDL I know of that you can get financial aid through. Other schools in the area like United and Tri-state want 5,000 for their 8 week course. I didnt have that money up front so NETTTS was the only option for a CDL.
They had me and they knew it. The first 3 months or so was classroom. I read in another post here that the teachers gave them the answers and that part is 100% true. They give you the answers because they know the class room is just *** that NETTTS does to stay accredited so they are able to offer those student loans.
Other than the first 2 weeks of permit prep the rest was useless. Your classroom consists of watching movies, reading from a book...and watching more movies. No not all of the movies are classroom related. I heard this called "filler" I call it a huge waste of time.
I can watch TV at home. After the class room was over you go out in to the field. The field is a lopsided, hilly, badly paved, excuse for a parking lot. Your only protection from the elements is the clothing you are wearing and maybe a tarp...maybe.
The equipment isn't great. Its even worse if you are a Massachusetts student. At the Somers, CT. NETTTS there is a huge difference between the quality of equipment for MA and CT students.
There is even a difference in the part of the field you practice on. Massachusetts gets the *** end of the field. I have seen better parking lots at Walmart. Being a CT student I was lucky and didn't have to deal with it.
I'm not blind however and people do talk. The instructors seem to be a hotly debated topic so I will throw in my 2 cents. In the classroom some of them will bore you to tears. Some of them are awesome and keep things interesting and fun.
It's really the luck of the draw. To be fair to the classroom guys though they are just trying to burn time with some half *** curriculum that is a bad joke. Useless at best.Out on the field some of the instructors really do care. You can see it.
They try their best to teach you on *** equipment in a parking lot that hasn't been paved since 1968. The lines and dashes they teach you to do the maneuvers by are faded and a lot of times can barely be seen. The good instructors work through the garbage and you will learn how to get this CDL. Other instructors really don't care at all.
They act like they are doing you a favor by being there. No, I paid almost 10k for you to be here and I expect to be treated like a human being not some cattle that you are pushing through the slaughter house. Who are you to belittle people and make them feel like they are not good enough to do this? That they will never learn how to do this?
Lets be honest here this is NOT rocket science. The field is where I saw the majority of people quit. I can't tell you why they all quit. Just one day they wouldn't come back. It happened more often than you would think.
If you quit once you hit the field you will still owe the FULL amount of your loan. So think twice about this decision. If you make it past the classroom you are locked in to that loan. The shifting drills were horrible.
I think you go out on 4 of them. From what I remember I would rather be castrated with a rusty spoon than do that again. Seems to me there would be a better way to teach people how to shift other than shoving 4 of them and an instructor in the truck and going out for 4 hours. I never met anyone that enjoyed them.
1 on 1 time is pretty good. In my opinion that's how shifting drills should be done. You would think for the money that's not asking a lot and would probably be way more beneficial. I know that's how they do it at United in Chicopee, MA.
and since I brought up United I know they get you out on the road every day. NETTTS does not. I know these things because I have a friend that got his CDL through United and he still laughs at me for going to NETTTS. Thats what happens when you don't plan for these things.
You take what you can get and NETTTS was all that I could afford...and no I am not a corporate shill for United. Just putting the information out there. What happens after I get my CDL you might ask. You think you are going to forever be secure in a great high paying job?
That's what the recruiters tell you. Not just NETTTS recruiters mind you. All of these CDL schools preach the same thing. This could be true.
CDL drivers are in demand. Just not local drivers right out of school. OTR is an acronym that you will become all to familiar with. OTR stands for "Over The Road" and over the road means TV dinners, public bathrooms and showers, laundry mats, and living like some kind of weird homeless person/hobo hybrid.
The only difference is you have money...after awhile. You do not break in to this industry making crazy amounts of money unless you know someone. You do not get a local job unless you know someone or are extremely lucky. Local usually means driving a Class B truck for somewhere between $13-$16 an hour.
Once again maybe more if you are lucky or you know someone. Unless you have at least 6 months OTR with a reputable company local companies wont even look at you. I was told it is because of their insurance. So they pay less on their insurance premiums because they hire experienced drivers...how do the companies that NETTTS and other schools have you fill out applications for afford to hire new drivers right out of school?
That money has to come from some where right? They can afford to do it because they don't pay you *** They can do this because they know you have no other alternative. It's OTR or forget it. Don't believe me?
Go ahead and call around to some local companies. OTR is not for everyone. It might be great if your young, single and want to pay for sexual favors at truck stops. Any chance of what most would consider a normal life is shot to *** Know this before you decide to get a CDL.To sum up my opinion of Nettts...1) It is over priced for what you get and it takes far longer than it really needs to.
2)It is not in the best financial interests of NETTTS to tell you that OTR is really the only viable option for a new student to drive a CDL A truck...so they don't tell you. 3)NETTTS does not teach you how to drive. They teach you how to get a CDL License. That's why when you do take a job with one of those companies there is a training period of any where from 4 days to 2 weeks.
I strongly suggest you take the 2 week one. Because even after 6 or 7 months of school you really don't know sh*t.4) The field is garbage and really should be repaved and the lines and dashes should be painted a lot more often. 5) The equipment is not good but it will get the job done. 6) Some of the instructors should really be shown the door.
Some people are just not meant to teach other people. Educate yourself about this industry, about NETTTS, and about all the other schools in the area before you make the decision to get a CDL. Take the time to go and talk to all of them. Go to a truck stop and talk to some drivers.
They love to talk to anyone who will listen because they are all so *** lonely.
I can not stress it enough EDUCATE YOURSELF!
$11,000 for what??? A total waste
Went here thinking this was a great school. I also see their ads.
It's a total joke. When all said and done it costs you $11,000. They don't seem to care about CDL only their new HVAC school because there is more money in it. I wasted 5 weeks in class to learn what I could learn in a week or two.
In the yard you get hardly any drive time because of all the students out there. Most look like criminals and they never let you in a truck. The instructors are nowhere to be found and don't give a rats *** about you.
Than I met this guy who tells me he got his permit on his own and hagled with some fat guy with a gut in the office and only paid him $2,000 cash. I am really pissed because nobody told me I could do this.
So don't pay the $11,000. If you pay cash they will work out a deal with you. After I left I couldn't get a job because I can't shift. So I had to go to another place and pay them to teach me to shift.
Getting the license was a great idea.
Going to Nettts was a really *** idea.
My experience with New England Tractor Trailer Training School
The scammers at NETTS bridgeport and what i posted on facebook.
Hello everyone i would like to take this time and use facebook to shed some light on a group of scammers that are taking advantage of not only students but the state of CT and the federal government. All i can ask is that you like and share and maybe someone in the news media or the government will take notice.
I'm going to take point on this because someone with integrity has too.
We all can see my name, I am a real person. I am also a student at New England Tractor Training School better know as NETTS. You can read all the negative reviews of the school else where. My class date when i began school is 9/19/2015.
My class had 18 students, it was one of the biggest classes, keep that in mind. Now if you are a felon or have a felony , are white or a woman you're to put it bluntly *** from day one. If you use drugs don't worry you can hold off the drug test for 10 weeks.Random drug testing is not randomoh and the doctor who gives you your DOT Physical is really a chiropractor.Classroom is long and drawn out and when you take the tests don't worry the teachers give you the answers before you take the test. so after you get to the training field just to let you know the trucks you train on are un-safe.
let me restate that. all the trucks you train on either on the training field or over the road are UN-SAFE. the seats don't slide, they lose air pressure all the time ,cracked windshields. HELLO DMV INSPECTOR"S maybe you should look a little harder, but then and again you are state workers and let's face it why do your job right.
Anyway I have lots of free time while training because you maybe get 15 mins every 2 hours to practice your driving.
Don't worry though because when you take your CDL test one instructor is there helping you where the DOT inspector can't see because another instructor is distracting the inspector, and if you're a good looking woman Gus, the head instructor will make it his personal mission to distract the inspector. I've seen in all my time there only 4 really good instructors everyone else is a real dreg. If you have any issues don't bother going to the director of the school, it won't do any good. I went to him about the racisim and the safety issues.
It did not do one lick of good, like i said if you're white a felon or a woman you are royally and truly ***. so if you want my honest opinion don't attend NETTS in Bridgeport ct. all they want is your money or the government's student loan. if you attended NETTS and feel that you did not get the education you paid for please feel free to private message me because i am considering taking legal action against the school.
pleas like and share and maybe someone in the media or in the government will take a stand with me. thank you.
New England Tractor Trailer Training School Cdl Training Program Review from Worcester, Massachusetts
I am currently enrolled in NETTTS and have been having problems since I got there. I did receive my permit and I am now in the yard but the school is very disorganized and no one seems to know what they're doing.
I was supposed to graduate this school and start my career but I am still stuck in the yard and can't do anything about it, all the instructors do is walk around and smoke millions of cigarettes and no one seems to be around when you need them. This is insane my unemployment is almost up and I still haven't got my foot in the door to a career and no one there seems to care to help you.

New England Tractor Trailer Training School Cdl Training Program Review from Boston, Massachusetts
This review is total BS. This is the boys at Nettts writing their own reviews. If this guy is so happy why is he on this web site? Much has changed since 1994.
This place is all about the money.
Call the school.. You will get no answers on the phone. They will try to get a sales guy in your house ASAP.
That guy will push you to sign up before you visit the school.
They will pressure you to do the $10,295 program, and not tell you about the $5,000 program. It's the same license.
The next thing is to get you into financial aid ASAP.
When you call DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR REAL NAME OR PHONE NUMBER!
You will never be able to get rid of them. They will call you day and night.
NETTTS as in fishing net. Scoop em up and haul em in.
If I only knew what I know now.
I enrolled in the 6 month course because I needed the financial aid. The classroom/filler was a waste of time. Although the first two weeks were useful in preparing me for the CDL permit written exam, they were only necessary because I lacked the the self motivation to study on my own. There is a plethora of information on, websites, smart phone apps, and trucking forums that I could of utilized to pass the exam. The rest of the classroom HOURS, DAYS, and MONTHS were filled with reading from a book (like a 3rd grader), getting bogus certifications, watching a ton of videos, and listening to story upon story upon story about the instructors twisted x-rated adventures in the trucking world. I didn’t learn anything that I couldn’t of learned on my own. I expected to learn more for my money and time, but what I learned was to expect less.
I am now out on the field learning the maneuvers. So far I am making progress and to be fair the instructors have helped, but very little. They put up a good act of caring when they come around. I’ve learned to appreciate their occasional appearances. Some have completely ignored me. Honestly I am getting most of my help from the advanced students. They are the go to guys and are reliably available for advice and tips. I feel bad for them because they’re there to learn as well and are paying just as much as I am, but have to waste their time and energy on rookies like myself. Cheers to them.
NETTTS you got me. I admit I have been fooled and was foolish to not research thoroughly.
To all looking into going to NETTTS I urge you to reconsider. Hopefully this will be a message in a bottle to some looking for a New England Tractor Trailer Training School review. Good luck and don’t fall for the high pressure and aggressive sales tactics.
This school should be shut down!!!!!
This is the last place you should go to get a CDL
The experience was bad from the start. I had two interviews with this place. First time I called, they insisted on sending a guy to my house the same day. This guy used deceptive tactics to get me into the school and do financial aid the next day. He told me they only offered a class for 22 weeks for $10,295 and not to worry that financial usually covers it all.
When I went there, the first guy I met wanted me to start school in a class that had started the previous week. This was a big time warning sign. I told him I wasn't doing anything without seeing what I got for financial aid first. I ended up with a $7,000 loan. I am pissed because the guy who came to the house tried to tell me that I wouldn't have to pay at all.
When I left, they almost wanted to force me to go sit in class. Finally they said just go there and sign in. No way I was doing that. I looked around and couldn't find any other schools in RI. So I decided to call again because my friend had started there. Again a guy had to come to the house. What a pain. Now I have to sit in class for like 6 weeks watching videos that I can watch online for free. They said it was because they were short on instructors.
After being here for awhile I find out there is another school in RI that is less than $5000 and only about a month long. Than I find out that Nettts also offers a program for $5000 but the guys who came to the house NEVER TOLD ME. They only talked about the $10,000 one.
Worse part is now the guys outside are all pissed because they get no behind the wheel time. They say they are lucky to get 15mins a day driving. When you go outside to drive everybody here says they have no idea what they are doing plus everybody who works at this place seems to be pissed at the place.
I feel so *** for falling for this.

I suggest everyone before going to school to get information about the yard. Old trucks and rude instructors. I say this so you don't get into trouble.
They need to bring Mr C back he was the best instructor of all time. He actually cared.
